It’s in my business plan that you’re my only design client.

It can be tough to get me on the phone.

I’m here. I’m working. I should answer my calls. But I don’t answer many of them.

It takes a bit of explaining to get folks to understand that they shouldn’t take it personally. I usually don’t know who’s calling until hours later.

Here’s why…

Design your workday in Time Blocks for optimal productivity.

The best thing I’ve discovered since leaving my corporate job has been that I control my time now. That’s been awesome for my personal time, but it’s also surprisingly beneficial in my work time.

It can take around 23 minutes to fully reengage after an interruption to your work. I've always valued reducing distractions, especially now. Now I get to choose to focus on my current project over anything else. And not only is it okay, but it’s also part of my business plan!

I’m offering website design that can be completed on a two-week timeline. It seems pretty risky to promise this at first. How can I do it?

There are two habits that help make this work for me.

So, when I don’t pick up the phone when you call, please know that’s not me being rude. That’s me focusing on one client at a time, and keeping my head down until my next 3-hour reset. And I’m very good at getting back with an email if you want to avoid phone tag.

When I’m working on a client project, their calls are the only work calls that aren’t blocked on my phone.

And that is exactly how it’ll be when it’s your project I’m working on.
